Equities in Health for Humans and Animals
Inequities in healthcare exist in marginalized communities worldwide for people and their animals. This leaves people vulnerable to zoonotic diseases at a higher rate. Despite being fully preventable, dog-mediated human rabies kills tens of thousands yearly, especially in rural and impoverished areas in Africa and Asia. (www.unitedagainstrabies.org)
Inequities in healthcare do not have to exist.
By embracing a One Health approach and giving people and communities a voice to help minimize the gap of inequities, w,e can strengthen human and animal health.
With a long-term goal of helping eliminate dog-mediated rabies through the Global Strategic Plan, Zero by 30
"We can only achieve optimal health in animals if we first achieve optimal health in people."
